NHFB commend WAEC for alowing Visually impaired candidates to Write WASSCE

The New Horizon Foundation of the Blind, (NHFB) Monday commended the West African Examinations Council (WAEC) for allowing the visually impaired to write the WASSCE integrated science exams this September/October along with private candidates.

It was a promise made and fulfilled and for that we are grateful, a statement signed by Joshua Ayayi, Media Relations Officer of the NHFB, a sight-impaired interest NGO based in Ho stated.

The statement recalled that some visually impaired students were unable to write that subject in the May-June examinations, because WAEC was not technically prepared for them and therefore pledged to register them for free later.

The statement said WAEC should do more to preempt the problems that prevent the poor sighted students from taking the exams.

It stressed that “it is not true that persons with visual impairments are not able to write subjects that involve a lot of calculations and that all that they needed was the appropriate processes to read the questions”.

The statement expressed regret that a low vision student of Mawuli School in Ho who presented a medical report on his situation to WEAC while processing papers, was presented with exams papers with the same font size print with his sighted colleagues until the NHFB intervened to get him presented with a point 28 question paper in English.

The statement urged the Council, therefore, to involve Persons with Disabilities in their planning processes.

How to Check for WAEC 2015 Result online(www.waecdirect.org)

Follow these simple steps to check your 2015 WAEC Result:
1. By the WAEC scratch card from any dealer e.g banks, Post Office, WAEC office and other authorised dealers in your area.
2. Visit WAEC website at www.waecdirect.org
3. On the WAEC page, provide all the necessary information. e.g Center Number, Seat Number.
4. Select the year of the examination. e.g 2015
5. Select the examination type e.g May/June
6. Finally, enter the scratch card pin and the associated serial number as required.

INSTRUCTIONS FOR USING THE RESULT CHECKER

The instructions below will help you in checking your WAEC Result.'

Firstly, Enter your 10-Digit Candidate Number for WASSCE/WAEC.
Select the Examination Type as WASSCE.

Note: Only the years for which available results are displayed.

Enter your 10-Digit Scratchcard Serial Number. This can be found on the reverse side of your WAEC Scratchcard e.g. L100000001.
Enter your 12-Digit Personal Identification Number (PIN) found on the reverse side of your scratchcard. e.g. 123456789012
Select the "Send a copy to Email?" check-box if you wish to have a copy of your result sent to your email box.
Enter a valid Email Address if you selected the "Send a copy to Email?" option.
Click on the Submit button and wait for your results to be displayed in a popup window. This may take several minutes depending on traffic.

And again we recommend you check your result at night when traffic is not so much to compete.

What is WAECDIRECT PIN?

The PIN stands for Personal Identification Number. In WAECDIRECT, it is a unique 10-digit or 12-digit number that is required to access the service. The service enables direct access to a candidate's results via multiple channels. The PIN is found on a valid WAECDIRECT Scratch card and is revealed when cover patch on the reverse side of the card is carefully scratched off.

What is WAEC Scratch card?

A Scratch card is a plastic card with a scratch patch on the reverse side that conceals a PIN required to access the WAECDIRECT service. The Scratch card applicable for the WAECDIRECT service is marked "WAECDIRECT ……Access Card" on the face.

Where can I buy the WAECDIRECT Scratch card?

A Scratch card may be purchased at the National Office of WAEC and at any of its zonal and branch offices across Nigeria. It may also be bought from any of the branch offices of Fountain Trust Bank Plc across Nigeria. From time to time it may become available at any other outlets so designated by WAEC. Please click here to go to the outlets page. The reviewed price for the Scratch card is now N450.

How many times can I check my results with the WAEC Scratch Card?

You may check your results up to a maximum of 5 (five) times with the use of 1 (one) Scratch card. In order to check further after exhausting the allowed 5 (five) times you will need to purchase another Scratch card which will entitle you to another 5 (five) result checks.

Can I use one Scratch card to check more than one WAEC result?

No! You may only use one Scratch card to check one result. To check another result of interest, you will require a new Scratch card. If you misuse a Scratch card by attempting to check another result different from the first one checked, you will be penalized as having used the card, and will be presented with the appropriate error message.

In what other ways can I check my WAEC results?

Besides having your results displayed to you on a webpage on the WAECDIRECT website, you may also have your results delivered to an email address of your choice by selecting the appropriate options on the WAECDIRECT homepage. You may also have your results read out to you by calling into any one of our regional Interactive Voice Response (IVR) systems or have it delivered to your GSM mobile phone via SMS.
